Here is my Premier League prediction for Chelsea v Bolton [15:00] on Saturday 11th April. With Chelsea looking to keep up with Liverpool and Man United they will need to pick up points against a difficult Bolton team. While Bolton are looking to pick up a few extra points which could push them to a mid table finish this season.
Chelsea look to have put their bad home run behind them for the season while Bolton are really struggling away from home at the moment. Bolton are a tough side and they will definately get men behind the ball. They were very good against Middlesbrough last weekend, cruising to a 4-1 victory. However, repeating that performance against Chelsea is a different matter.
Chelsea’s previous 6 league home games:
1-0 Man City [W]
2-1 Wigan [W]
0-0 Hull [D]
2-0 Middlesbrough [W]
2-1 Stoke [W]
2-0 West Brom [W]
Bolton’s previous 6 league away games:
1-1 West Brom [D]
2-0 Stoke [L]
3-0 Everton [L]
2-2 Blackburn [D]
1-0 Arsenal [L]
4-2 Aston Villa [L]
Bolton haven’t won away since 29th November against Sunderland when they won 4-1. Chelsea on the other hand haven’t lost at home since the 30th November. Chelsea were very impressive in mid week against Liverpool in the Champions League and that performance is bound to boost their confidence. However, they will still have to keep their mind set on Tuesday’s second leg.
Bolton could name the same lineup that played Middlesbrough last weekend. While Chelsea may decide to give Richardo Carvalho some game time as it is most likely that he will start on Tuesday with John Terry suspended. Overall though, I do not see Bolton winning this game, and I think with their recent away form it is very unlikely that they will manage to take any points from Chelsea.
Prediction: 3-0
